Magic lovers cherish the best of their showtime with Harry Potter. It features among the chartbusters in the domain. The thrilling mysteries in the world of Hogwarts go a long way in adding to its narrative. It has struck the pinnacle of fame and name. Its characters also fit in the realms of starry facets. Pushing it to another narrative, a pit viper has earned the title of Trimeresurus Salazar, or Salazar’s pit viper. One researcher found it in Arunachal Pradesh (India).
India’s Arunachal Pradesh is back in the light again for another species find. Scientists have found four snakes and one tortoise indigenous to the region within one year. The latest to join the list of findings is a pit viper. A paper published in the April issue of Zoosystematics and Evolution highlighted the iconic discovery.
A group of researchers under the guidance of Zeeshan Mirza (a biologist at India’s National Centre for Biological Sciences) came up with the find. It belongs to genus Trimeresurus Lacépède. Not just that, it is one of the 48 species of pit viper thriving in the east and Southeast Asia.
These snakes have their charm. Not just that, they also manage to play with the minds of their viewers owing to their similar looks. Trimeresurus snakes manage to strike notes with their admirers to a great extent. However, Salazar’s pit vipers manage to stand out. One can look forward to an orange-reddish stripe found on the sides of the heads of males to tell them apart.
Indian scientists have bestowed honors on the species by treating them with a title from the iconic world of Harry Potter. They have named them after the character of Salazar Slytherin. Taking on that note, they now don the title of Trimeresurus Salazar, or Salazar’s pit viper. Going deeper into the Harry Potter tale, one can find Salazar Slytherin to be one of the four founders of Hogwarts.
Not just that, the character also has the Slytherin house to add to that note. Apart from that, he was a Parselmouth (an individual adept at the dialect of serpents called Parseltongue). Slytherin house also went a long way in greeting its visitors on that part. The character had an affinity for students brimming with ambitions and resources. Not just that, but students with cunningness and intelligence also won his backing.
Setting the controversial notes, he also looked forward to magical lineages or “pure-blooded” magicians. Whatever his characteristics, he played a crucial role in taking the story ahead. His looks make him stand out in the Harry Potter narrative.
Not just that, one can also realize the fact that Harry Potter’s author would have taken her inspiration from the snake world to come up with Salazar Slytherin. Raising its stakes in the narrative, Salazar viper joined the names of creatures drawing from the magic of Hogwarts. Exploring that front, one can find a plethora of animals on the board.
For instance, one can come across spiders in honor of Aragog (gargantuan arachnid from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets). Then, one can find mention of Dracorex hogwartsia (a dinosaur that dons the title“Dragon King of Hogwarts”).
