A Great Potterhead Gets A Fantasy Funeral, Laid To Rest With Harry Potter Vibes
A blitheful person, as commented by her known ones, she took her last breath at the age of 78. Fondly known as ‘the crazy ginger lady’, she was known for her compassion and tenderness. She was toiling hard and battling with lung and bone cancer. In her last phase of life, she planned everything regarding her funeral.
She was certain that it had to be a Harry Potter themed funeral. So she ringed up all her contacts and requested them to don the characters of the series in her funeral. Blessed with eight children, twenty-one grandchildren, and thirty great-grandchildren, she was all set to let the things roll by.

Finally, the day of her departure from this world came. Her desire was wholeheartedly accepted and fulfilled by her family and friends. All adorned the characters that suited them. Clad in the colors of Gryffindor House, family members marched in together as a Harry Potter parade. Wizards and witches paid their tributes. Professor Sprout, Professor Dumbledore, and Moaning Myrtle too played their part and paid homage to the departed soul. The coffin of Veronica was too painted in the shades of Hogwarts with Professor McGonagall featuring on the back.
The camaraderie did not just stop there. The Grimsby Crematorium too donned the garbs of Hogwarts and Hedwig’s Theme from the Harry Potter movie. Bread’s ‘Everything I Own’ and sound of Monty Python’s ‘Always Look on the Bright side of Light’ was played to grace up the occasion. This was done to be in line with Veronica’s desire to celebrate her funeral as a celebration of her life. Her Harry Potter desires were not only limited to her funeral. Lying on her death bed, she made a queer wish. She said that she wanted to meet a donkey dressed as Harry Potter before breathing her last breath. Like her much-celebrated funeral, this wish of hers was also fulfilled by her loved ones.

Themes and characters of tales are not limited to books or movies but they shape our lives. They teach one to face the veracity of life with all might and embrace each twist and turn blissfully. Life is ephemeral and we all have a long bucket list. But most of us die out without living even one of them. Veronica has much to offer for us to learn. Open your arms and let the air of blitheness come in. Live each and every moment offered by life to the fullest.
