Movies July, 04, 2025

The “Band of Brothers” sequel “Masters Of The Air” is set to release on Apple TV+ in 2022. Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks will be seen collaborating again as the executive producers for the sequel. The story would revolve around the contribution of the American “bomber boys” in defeating Germany under the rule of Hitler in World War II. The filming began back in April and has now been shifted to Hemel Hempstead’s Old Town. The same place was also the filming spot for Ricky Gervais’s Afterlife.

Moreover, US Air Force worth $6 million has been built for the movie, which elucidates how high the expectations are. This base has also spread across the English countryside. The inspiration for the account of incidents has been taken from the book “Masters Of the Air” by Donald L. Miller and has been written by the co-executive producer, John Orloff. Cary Joji Fukunaga will be the director for the first three episodes. Meanwhile, he’s also the director for the new James Bond movie, “Ready To Die.”

In addition, the filming for “Masters Of The Air” has also been done in Oxford city center and Dalton Barracks in Abingdon, Oxfordshire. The cast members for the film would be Austin Butler, Callum Turner, and Anthony Boyle. The series was initially announced in 2013, after which the rights were later given in the hands of Apple TV in 2019.

“Apple today announced that it has partnered with Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Television, and Tom Hanks & Gary Goetzman’s Playtone on Masters of the Air, a new international limited drama series that marks the first series greenlit with Apple serving as the studio. Masters of the Air will stream exclusively on Apple TV+, a new home for the world’s most creative storytellers, and is the second project for Apple to hail from Spielberg’s Amblin Television in addition to Amazing Stories,” said Apple.

Apple added that this series would eventually give international drama series like Pachinko and Shantaram a run for the money. As “Band of Brothers” has earned its fame and received several awards, including Emmys and a Golden Globe award, the other trending shows would be heavily impacted by the release. The collaborating pair have also proved their worth back in 1988 with the film “Saving Private Ryan.” Spielberg has also won an Oscar for Best Director.

However, the release date for the movie is yet to be announced and it might be affected due to the pandemic as well. Spielberg also described in his acceptance speech how Tom Hanks had been convincing him that the outcome of their collaboration would lead to something exceptional. Also, their past experience from “Saving Private Ryan” is remarkable evidence for the same.
