Bautista Had A Wish To Play Bane In The Batman

Movies July, 02, 2025

Nevertheless, it seems like he’d put on the famous mask some other time if the chance arises. Bane was last portrayed by Tom Hardy in The Dark Knight Rises, eight years ago. A fan asked about the casting of the forthcoming Batman movie, which led to the question of Bautista’s starring in the same.

The fan tweeted: “I just read an article speculating that @DaveBautista may be, should be, could be playing Bane in the new #Batman movie with Robert Pattinson.” While ending his tweet, the fan also said “Please, DC movies…make it happen.” Sadly, the fan was told by Bautista himself through a tweet that it won’t happen, stating, “Unfortunately it’s not. Tried my best.” The fact that the former WWE superstar and Guardians of Galaxy actor wouldn’t be seen in the movie might seem upsetting to a lot of fans.

Although Bautista isn’t going to be a part of The Batman, there are a lot of things that the audience is excited about. Along with Pattinson playing the lead, Zoë Kravitz would be seen as the Catwoman, Paul Dano as Riddler. Others, including Colin Farrell, would be portraying the Penguin and Jeffrey Wright would be seen as Commissioner James “Jim” Gordon. Batman’s butler, Alfred Pennyworth, would be played by Andy Serkis. Serkis recently disclosed that the movie would be “darker than previous.”

When Serkis was asked if the film would be “darker, broodier,” he said, “I would say that’s not far from the truth.” He further added, “It’s very much about the emotional connection between Alfred and Bruce. That’s really at the center of it. And it is an exquisite script that Matt has written.” Serkis has stepped behind the camera and decided to direct the Venom 2 as his first comic book movie. Yet he would be seen on screen in The Batman.

Talking about Alfred Pennyworth, the real question that arises is, how would one follow the other men such as Michael Caine, who have played Alfred? Serkis talked about it himself, saying, “He (Caine) was fantastic. His Alfred was legendary, I couldn’t even begin to go there, really.” He also added, “You find it for yourself. It’s like playing these iconic roles in Shakespeare, you go back, you revisit them and you have to make it your own and see what it is about the character that connects with you and your personal Venn diagram.”

It was originally scheduled to be released on June 25, 2021, but was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Batman is now scheduled to be released on October 1, 2021.
