Gaming July, 03, 2025

Video games have always been at the receiving end of a lot of criticism, with the leaders of this anti-gaming squad being our parents. However this time the American comedian Joe Rogan gave his version of criticism in a conversation with Joe De Sena on a podcast. Many parents worry about their kids getting addicted to the games which often consist of content that they find objectionable. And whether you like it or not Joe Rogan is on our parent’s side.

The digital gaming industry is reaching new heights of success ever since the corona pandemic came into existence. Many youngsters have opened their channels about the tutorials of various games. The 52-year-old comedian had some strong choice of words against this E-gaming trend. He called this new platform a waste of time and a serious concern for the society. Addressing De Sena on the topic, Rogan said that the kids these days need to do something more challenging like physical sports.

The comedian believes that the youngsters need to set some offline goals for themselves and come out of the virtual world for their good. Rogan said that these games are the real problem because of the fact that they are fun and exciting which makes the kids spend more and more time. He said that the youth spends so much of time on the virtual fun that they overlook all the opportunities of having some real fun. Rogan further said that digital gaming doesn’t take people anywhere and makes them stagnant.

The comedian even compared digital gaming with martial arts which, according to him is the real sport. Rogan explained that a person who is into martial arts has a lot of potential of growth and maybe opening their own sports school. And that is not the case with the video games, as per the comedian. The 52-year-old also showed his concern about the deteriorated physical health conditions that the digital gamers can have, due to inactivity.

Rogan did acknowledge the flourishing E-gaming industry but he also threw some light on its pitfalls. He agreed to the fact that kids are making a lot of money via digital gaming but it won’t be long lived if they do not adapt to the upcoming games as well.

It’s not at all surprising to see the youngsters thinking otherwise and coming up with some logical reasoning. Some of the kids trolled the comedian whereas; the others argued that digital gaming helped them connect with their pals in the stressful lockdown conditions. The gamers believe that gaming is not as simple as the people think. And it requires a lot of skills and dedication to be an E-gamer. Some people also compared the digital gaming with book reading. They claim that just like reading is soothing for the readers, gaming is soothing for the gamers.

Seems like the comedian’s rant opened a new debate window with people coming up with new ways to defend their beloved platform- E-gaming!
