Science July, 10, 2025

Since the announcement of the future voyage has been made by the company, the public cannot contain its excitement. It can be witnessed from the spiked demand for the future voyage. The company first launched its test travel in 2018 and since then people have shown great interest in the future voyage and the registrations have been increasing exponentially.

The official flight will take place later this year. After the official flight, many more such flights will take place later this year and more than 600 tickets have already been sold for the same. But due to some circumstances, the firm has faced losses of $73 million in the last quarter and has confirmed that it would be taking $1000 refundable deposits ahead of the next tickets. These deposits will be taken before the new set of tickets are released.

The company has started the ‘One Small Step’ initiative which aims of creating a waiting list till the next bookings will be made. Though the prices and dates have not been disclosed yet, other details are available on the website. The procedure and any other query are also being taken up on the website.

Virgin Galactic’s Commercial Director, Stephen Attenborough shared his thoughts about the announcement and said “We have been greatly encouraged by the ongoing and increasing demand seen from around the world for personal spaceflight. One Small Step allows us to help qualify and build confidence in our direct sales pipeline, as well as to ensure that those who are most keen to make reservations can do so at the earliest opportunity.”

Leonardo DiCaprio and singer Justin Bieber are on the list of people who brought the first ticket for the future voyage. They have paid $250,000 for the voyage. But it is also true that Sir Richard Branson and his team are not the only ones with these future voyage plans. Many other companies are also looking into these commercial flights.

Elon Musk’s, SpaceX spacecraft manufacturing company has teamed up with a Colorado research lab and recently announced to send hemp and coffee plants up to the International Space Station in the next month. And it is just not for any reason, they have a proper plan in mind with full research and ongoing research as well.

Sending a hemp and coffee plant is based on the experiment to see what will happen to the plant in an environment with zero-gravity. An agricultural biotech company, Front Range Biosciences breeds genetically consistent hemp and coffee varieties. The agricultural biotech company has partnered with a start-up called Space Cells and the University of Colorado for the project.

SpaceX CRS-20 cargo flight is planning to launch more than 480 plant cell cultures in the space. But before sending these plant cell cultures in the space they will contain in a special incubator with regulated temperature for around 30 days.
