Sealed Copy Of Super Mario Bros. Sets The World Record In An Auction
A person had a collection of games which included Super Mario Bros. for NES. Retro games are a gem to a collection and with Super Mario Bros in the collection, the bar of the collection was raised ten folds. The sealed copy of this rare game was put up for auction and the price for which it was sold, set the world record. New guidelines are now being considered for the auctions of the video games because of it.
This rare sealed mint copy of Super Mario Bros. for NES which was released in 1985 was sold for $100, 150. A US Gamer reported that the retro game which was auctioned in the U.S. based Heritage Auctions is the first-ever video game sold for six figures in the category of vintage video games. It has now widened the horizons of auctions of vintage video games.

Heritage Auctions has decided to include certified vintage video games for auction in every Heritage Comics and Comic Art Auction. The copy that was sold was the only sticker sealed copy of the game buyable in Los Angeles and New York, the rest were reprinted. From 1985 to 1994, only limited originals were there. The record-setting copy was certified vintage video game with a Mint Grade of 9.4 and Seal Rating of A++.
Many people believe that Super Mario Bros. is the most recognized fictional as well as non-fictional character. According to Deniz Kahn, Wata Games’ president, “It was Super Mario Bros. that saved the game industry back in 1985.” Also, Super Mario Bros. has a never-ending fan base as it captures the market with rarity, popularity and everything on the checklist.
The game was purchased by a number of people on February 6, which included Jim Halperin, founder and co-chairman of Heritage Auctions of Dallas, Rich Lecce, pioneering video game collector, Zac Gieg, owner of Just Press Play Video Games in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and owner of Robert B. Lecce Numismatist Inc of Boca Raton, Florida.
