The Golden Girls’ Abode Is Now For Sale

Movies July, 12, 2025

The show ran from 1985 to 1992, and the house was mostly used for the exterior shots, after which its replica was also made to get it filmed on a Hollywood set. The Golden Girls comprised Rue McClanahan as Blanche, who was a widow and had permitted three other roommates to live with her, namely Betty White (Rose), Bea Arthur (Dorothy), and Estelle Getty (Sophia).

Besides, the exact replica made by Disney’s Hollywood Studios was also renowned for attraction for several years. But there was no opportunity for its fans to get a glimpse of the interiors. In reality, it was the home to David Noble Barry III and Margaret Carr Barry, a couple who had it built in the year 1955. After they died in 2017 and 2019, respectively, the house was put for sale.

James Barry, their son, informed that the location scouts found the mansion to perfectly represent the fictional home at Miami at 6151 Richmond St. Later, NBC paid them money as well to get the shots of the exterior. However, the property was used for filming only for the first season of the show, being later replaced by its replica, which was made according to the original blueprints.

Unfortunately, the replica was demolished back in 2003, so the actual mansion is the only one where you can commemorate the beauty of the show. The price still won’t be easy on the pocket. It is set to be sold at $2,999,000. As it looks, only the TV or movie producers would like to get it for the great location or probably, a private buyer who had been a big fan of the show.

Douglas Elliman says: “Architecture, location and a slice of Hollywood history! This impeccably maintained Mid-Century Modern treasure is one of TVs most familiar exteriors, a stand-in for the fictional Miami locale of The Golden Girls.” Rachelle Rosten, the home’s listing agent, said that the price had been strategically set, as it also grabs attention due to its exquisite view.

Moreover, the pricing strategy has been put in accordance with the value as per the market. For the best part, the interior of the property is enough to give you a good explanation. Although we had just seen a set of houses in the show, the real one is exceptional and has original oak flooring and floor to ceiling windows.
