Wormholes For Humans To Travel Through Time And Space May Be Possible
Although physics endorse the idea of wormholes, there are many scientists who have agreed that they would be undersized and unreliable for a person to travel. This didn’t make them lose hope. The physicists at Princeton University in the US have used quantum mechanics to search for a mathematical escape clause. According to them, this would help them to create a wormhole sufficiently large for humans and their spacecraft.
The scientists applied math to speculate conditions that could make a wormhole achievable and even visualized what one would look like. The wormhole was described by them in detail. From the outside, it bears a resemblance to intermediate-mass charged black holes. The reason for their big size is so that a human traveler can get through the tidal forces.
It takes a very short proper time to travel through, but a long time as seen from the outside. The traveler obtains a very large uplifted factor when they go past the center of the wormhole. They also told that they have concluded that the wormhole exists in a cold and flat ambient space. They are yet to give any plausible mechanism for their formation. They only knew that they are configurations allowed by the equations.
In an ideal world, wormholes could act as a magical doorway which can let people access another time or galaxy. It is a bit perplexing theory but a wormhole is basically a theoretical method of folding space and time so two places in space can be connected together.
The admirers of the movie interstellar would be better known to this concept. The movie shows how astronauts on a spacecraft managed to travel through a wormhole in a short span of time they had, but for people living on earth, hundreds or even thousands of years could have passed. It is like joining two dots on paper so that it forms a line, folding the paper over to overlap the dots and then forcing your pen through the page. The hole generated represents the wormhole.
Einstein conjectured that space-time can be tangled up so tightly that two points can share the same physical location. Then all you need is a short wormhole between the two for instantaneous travel. Wormholes could be hypothetically possible to invent but would continue to be unworkable unless more advanced technology is developed.
This is what Physics experts Juan Maldacena and Alexey Milekhin have been trying to prove. They depended on something called the 5-dimensional warped geometry theory, which suggests that the Universe is in five dimensions. A five-dimensional universe would permit something called negative energy to exist and it’s this that the scientists think could make a wormhole stable and large. Then they would just need the right tools to operate the negative energy.
Some astronomers think we should look for natural wormholes in space by observing how gravity is distorting light behind stars.
