Gaming May, 21, 2025

Well, the same will add even more fun when you commemorate that a similar case happened in a video game. This is what transpired to an artist, Luke Mallinson on his visit to Chernobyl- the area that was abandoned after a nuclear accident. It became more of an unprecedented shock when Luke realized it while playing Call of Duty: Warzone that he had seen some of the areas during his visit to Chernobyl.

Moreover, he had also taken some snaps of the place and with the heights of his astonishment, he wanted to share the same with other people. A graphic designer by profession, Luke merged his clicked photos from his Pripyat trip with the screengrabs of Call of Duty: Warzone side by side and shared it on Reddit.

With this, he also wrote: “I visited Chernobyl a few weeks ago and found the empty dive pool. Today I found the exact same pool in Warzone. Even the outside of the building is the same. I have more pics of the area if anyone is interested.”

And yes, it is. Both pictures look identical. Besides, if you are a game lover or especially, you’ve been a huge fan of Call of Duty, you’d love to witness this amusement. So, some gamers also commented on the post to share their opinions on this tantalizing recognition. One of them said, “Wow give me chills just looking at the pictures, must have been strange to be there.”

Coming to the popularity of the game, the free-to-play battle royale Warzone gained more than 15 million players worldwide in just 2 weeks. A great achievement!! It was released on 10th March and didn’t take much time to attract the masses. On 14th March, it was also announced on the official account of Call of Duty that they’ve crossed the 15 million threshold already.

Now, when you compare it with the previous record made by Apex Legends, Call of Duty relishes the victory by a huge margin. Within just 24 hours of the game’s release, six million players had already joined to play which is more than that of the existing record-holder Apex Legends as they had made it to 2.5 million players on the first day. Actually, it’s more than double.

Call of Duty’s publisher Activision said in a press release:
“Warzone is more than a new era for Call of Duty, it’s a game-changer for players and fans.
“We’re delivering two incredible modes of play within this massive world that take the experience to a new level.” I hope we’ll get to see this number proliferating with the days ahead.
