Gaming June, 21, 2025

People who had the honor to meet and know Desmond “Etika” Amofah a popular YouTuber and an avid Nintendo fan would tell how amazing the person he was. People were in awe of his content and could relate to it very well. But the fans had to part ways from him real soon.

The 29-year-old shared a lengthy video on his YouTube channel in which he talked and discussed suicide. It was an alarm for his fans and it immediately sparked fear in people’s minds for his safety and mental health. And after the video, his fans were shocked when the tragic news of his death was announced. In June, after the video, it was confirmed when the reports came that the popular YouTuber committed suicide.

Police discovered the body of 29-year-old, popular YouTuber and Nintendo fan in Manhattan’s East River back in June. The body was found after the YouTuber was reported missing and he had just uploaded his video discussing suicide. A group of artists came forward to pay tribute to him in their artistic manner. Fellow YouTuber Double A took the initiative and came forward with a very unique idea.

The group of artists paid tribute to him by painting a wall that currently graces the Bushwick neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York. A touching memorial mural which was unveiled by Double A when he took it to his Twitter account. He posted pictures of it with the caption, “We present to you the Art Mural dedicated to the legend Desmond Etika Amofah! Please share and RT. Pls use #joyconboyzforever when you post your pics/vids and tag us. Shoutout to the amazing artists @bkfoxx & #kestaadm with support from @jmzwalls
1280 Myrtle Ave, Brooklyn NY”

The mural included sweet references and Nintendo taglines such as “take care of yourself,” “have yourself a damn good one” and included Joy-Cons. It also included the logo of the Super Smash Bros and “Joy-Con Boyz”, a popular phrase which was coined by Amofah himself. Double A worked with other artists in collaboration for the wall. bkfoxx, kestaadm and jmzwalls with Double A worked on the piece together. The best part of the mural is that it is 100 percent legal and is approved by the building owner.

It will not be taken down by the authorities or washed down anytime soon. But yes after eight to nine months it will be washed off. So if anyone is in New York and around the area one should visit the place for sure and tag #joyconboyzforever on your social media handles.

Other than that the fans started a campaign in the wake of Amofah’s passing where the fans built a community and talked to people suffering from loneliness, anxiety, depression, heartbreaks or any other hardships they are facing. Sometimes a person just wants somebody to talk to. It is a very good initiative and a perfect one at this moment.
