Guy Who Made $30,000 From GameStop Bought Consoles For Children’s Hospital
Hunter Kahn, a mechanical engineering student from Cornell University, lives in Stillwater, Minnesota. He is a 20 years old amateur investor. He wasn’t a professional at investing and didn’t use to pay any heed to the opinions of various investment partnerships. He had invested in numerous shares of GameStop which is an American video game, consumer electronics and gaming merchandise retailer. He bought them at a price of $30. As this story was posted on a social media website, users started buying the GameStop shares that eventually grew by even greater percentage.
Kahn cashed out $30,000 from his GameStop shares. The stock had previously seen a jump of over 1,625%. Investment brokers and partnerships predicted that the share price of GameStop would fall in future. Even after knowing that, an unprofessional investor Kahn was profited. As brokers and investors predicted a downfall in prices, they lost millions of dollars. One of the after stock-trading apps was accused of being hypocritical for preventing amateurs from ‘stealing’ from the rich.
Hearing this statement, the boy decided to be generous with the amount he cashed and bought consoles for donating them to children’s hospital. Out of the total amount cashed, Kahn used a portion of the earnings to buy various games consoles for a children’s hospital. He spent more than $2,000 donating six Nintendo Switch Lites, two Nintendo Switches, multiple games, e-shop gift cards, screen protectors and cases. He believed that the children suffering and going through hard times at the hospital are the most deserving to receive video games.
Posting it on social media he expressed that it is a duty of everyone to help others that are struggling each day going through hard times. Being kind to everyone is just so important. Everyone should pay forward in good fortune. He even condemned the act of corruption in stock market and exchanges. In his words, ”with this transfer of power it is important that we don’t become men in suits ourselves.” He proudly announced donation of game consoles to Children’s Minnesota Hospital and won’t stop doing such great deeds!
The president of Children’s Minnesota Foundation praised Kahn’s act and said that it was so nice to see such young minds helping those in need! She was so much grateful for the donation as it brought so much happiness to the children. Doctors always wish that the kids that were going through such challenging times always remain stress free and joyful. This donation helped them to a great extent.
Being a college student, Kahn encouraged his fellow friends, those who were too benefitted from GameStop, to pay forward their good fortune. He pointed out that it will be always meaningless to criticize the acts of investment partners as they were just moving money from one side to the other. As he shared a picture of him donating to the hospital, users praised his act and bought GameStop shares! Kahn used the rest of the money for his university fees.
