Rare NES Videogame Found In The Garret Sold For £7000
The Reno Gazette-Journal via the Kotaku reported that Amos was sorting through some childhood treasures in his attic at his old house when he came across an untouched copy of the long-forgotten game Kid Icarus that was purchased in December 1988. On contacting the family it was discovered that no one remembers why the game was abandoned for so long. One theory that the family has come up with is that someone brought it for Scott as a Christmas gift and then probably forgot to give it to him.
And as it turned out the person’s forgetfulness has turned into a blessing for the guy all these years later. After speaking to several gaming pros it was uncovered that the game is golden and Scott had just unlocked Ali Baba’s treasure cave. “It was kind of funny — I saw it was sealed and I thought it was worth a couple hundred dollars. I go to work the next day and emailed a couple of experts. One of them wrote me back within 30 minutes and said ‘You have an Easter egg.’”
As per the Heritage Auctions’ Valarie McLeckie finding a secured copy out of nowhere and that too in such good condition is a historic moment and serious gaming professionals and collectors shall run after this prized possession. And of course she was right. Amos managed to shift the game for an amount as high as 7400 Euros and is now ready to take a trip to Disneyland next month along with his sister with whom he had to share half of the earned money. “Instead of doing something responsible we’re going to have some fun with it” said Scott.
We hope Amos and his family have a gala time at their vacation and whosoever has purchased the goldmine remains satisfied with the product.
