Esports are thriving in every sphere of human life. They are taking human world by storm. Now educational institutions are exploring its potential in the lanes of academics.
The Extreme Networks in collaboration with eCampus Network unveiled a report that added to the glory of Esporst in our world. The survey covered major parts of Asia, Pacific, Europe, Middle East and America. Some 281 technical leaders from K-12 and higher education formed the units of the survey. According to the report, 56% of the surveyed persons believed that Esports helped in improving the campus experience. Also, 41% of persons went ahead to assert that it could help in the recruitment process.
Shedding some light on the institutional part, it claimed that one in every five schools in surveyed areas has a well-developed Esports set up. Some 71% of the remaining institutions are contemplating to introduce that vision in their institutions. They are hunting out the golden side of this facet. Not just that, 20% of the schools are already reaping its benefits by having a proper scholarships plan for Esports champions by their side. Some 67% of remaining schools are mulling to follow the footsteps of the formers.

Not just this report but the performance of the High School Esports League bolsters the very fact. Microsoft has played a vital role in financing and shaping this initiative. It aims at taking the academic grades and attendance to higher notch in order to forge a bright future. Dr. Kristy Custer and Michael Russel have donned the role of bringing the initiative on the ground. According to Dr. Kristy, students with chronic absenteeism, who did not feel a connection to the school, benefitted from Esports. Also, 82% of students on their team had never participated in any extra-curricular activity before.
The performance of the project has been overwhelming. The students under the program secured an increase of 1.4 in their GPA. Not just that, the attendance also witnessed a surge of 95%. Many institutions have shed light on the fact that Esports could also help in bolstering the in-demand job skills of the students. Taking on a similar line, a New York institution named SUNY Canton has resorted to Esports to provide degree in various gaming programs.
