The star-laden Solos fail to shimmer out of its disappointing script
Amazon Prime’s science show Solos shatters the high hopes of its viewers. It does not carry the responsibility of adding to science shows to any extent. The show supports a star-studded cast on the board. However it fails to deliver it because of its disappointing script and setting. Viewers also have to struggle with its vague and confusing content.
Science is ruling all fronts. The 21st century is more about science and technological advancement than anything else. A few years are enough to change the scenarios from head to toe. Not just that but they are also surpassing the expectations and predictions of science experts. Adding to that the issue of science is also winning the attention of show makers. Many science-based shows are making waves in the domain. However a few of them have failed to deliver. One of them is Solos.
Airing on Amazon Prime the show made a lot of hype for its star-studded cast. The presence of Oscar winners Morgan Freeman Helen Mirren and Anne Hathaway took the expectations to another note. Therefore it was not a surprise for people to trail the show for a long time.
However the show does not deliver iconically on those notes. It weaves different beads loosely. Setting its base it builds on the world way ahead in time. It tries to bring out what it is like to be in a technologically-advanced time. It is brimming with machines and science in every nook and corner. Pitching in for a classic experience it comes with seven episodes showcasing the stories of eight people.
They all are living their lives in different time settings in the future. To deliver on that part it comes with starry names on the board. They go ahead talking about their experiences and lives. But they do not sync with each other. Viewers can see them thriving in isolated zones. Not just that all that gets overburdened with artists indulging in monologues. That ends up making it an insipid experience for viewers.
Their half-hour monologues work out a dampening effect on their narrative. Going through that one can surely make it out that actors on the screens are the best names working in the domain. However the content and script make them falter on the screen. That makes them get back to their bleak appearance. In the final installment they come together to bring it on the board.
The show pulls up the futuristic things in the talk. For instance one can look forward to fertility treatments memory transplants and time travel. In each episode one can hear Freeman’s voiceover at the start.
Through voiceover one can get to know the central theme of the episode. Apart from that it also tried to tackle questions like whether one can escape one’s past. Not just that it also presses the threats that lurk in one’s mind. Moving ahead it also harps on the way for one to live one’s soul.
These questions intend to make one dig one’s soul out. However it fails to serve on that part. One can find these questions portrayed in other shows in a better way. Characters go a long way in sharing their narratives. They present daily-life struggles. But they cannot make it up before their audience. There is a sort of disconnect thriving in the show.
Thus there is a bag of a mix of performances and presentations. Adding to that it also declares the after-life of Zoom in the future. But TikTok has to find its way out.
