A boy named Bryson Kliemann from Lebanon, Virginia, US was eight years old. He was a die-hard fan of a cartoon series named Pokémon. He had been following the series for a long time then and had spent years adding cards to make his Pokémon collection. One day his family discovered that their pet dog Bruce was becoming lethargic and wasn’t coming out of his cage. Everyone got worried and so the dog had to be rushed to a veterinary surgeon. Bryson’s mother, Kimberly Woodruff, had taken the dog to Southwest Virginia Veterinary Services.

The family got to know that Bruce was suffering from a contagious virus infection. The dog was diagnosed with a highly infectious canine virus that was known as Parvo. It was a highly poisonous dog virus. The veterinary surgeon called for its treatment that involved a huge sum. The treatment was set to cost nearly $700. Knowing that the family couldn’t afford for such an expensive treatment and that everyone wanted Bruce to be happy as before, Bryson decided to sell his card collection.

In an interview, Bryson said that Bruce was his playmate. Usually his brother and sister played together and he was the one left alone so he played with Bruce! When he heard of Bruce suffering from a dog virus, he was crestfallen. He wanted to help his dog so that he could be back with him. He arranged for a roadside setup to sell his favorite Pokémon card collection and raise funds for his dog’s treatment. Surprised by his decision, Kimberly shared a picture online to spread the word. The family tried their level best to procure funds.

Kimberly started a “Go Fund Me” initiative online. She created a page on a social networking website wherein people could donate money for their cause. Their goal was to receive $800. However, as the Bryson’s picture with the roadside setup went viral, their donations exceeded a total of $1500. People were so generous and helpful. They were moved by the love between Bryson and Bruce. Bryson was overwhelmed by the response. He was happy to see that his dog will be alright soon. He appreciated all the love people poured in!

Within a week’s treatment Bruce was reunited with his family. Although there were many vaccine appointments lined up for Bruce, but he started doing great after a week. Bryson was the happiest but the story didn’t end here! Employees from Pokémon based in Bellevue, Washington, saw the picture where he was selling the cards. They were totally inspired by his move and wanted to reward him for the impact that he had created among the youth. They sent him a package of rare Pokémon cards! Bryson was on cloud nine! He felt so proud of himself.

As the initiative received extra funds, Kimberly decided to donate them for other sick pets in Southwest Virginia.
